A Gathering of Librarians

Librarians all over are gearing up for this weekend's ALA Conference. (The American Library Association). While I won't be there myself, The Shifter will be, and my wonderful publisher Balzer & Bray is featuring the book at the HarperCollins Childrens booth, and at the fiction breakfast. So if you happen to be in Chicago and attending, stop by and say hello. Tell them Janice sent you. (And it'll be so cool if my editor actually tells me someone said that)

And if you happen to see cool Shifter stuff while there, take a photo and send it my way. I get so excited when I see those things.

Wish I could be there, but alas, maybe next year.

  1. I bet you'll be there next year! I am so in love with the cover, it's silly. I enjoy the Byzantine style. For some reason, I couldn't see the UK version.

I bet you'll be going to BEA and ALA and every other 'A' next year.

    Congratulations!

  2. I ended up with an ARC of The Pain Merchants at the Diana Wynne Jones conference last week and enjoyed reading it. (Looking forward to the sequel!)

However - would it be possible to have your main website updated? I thought, seeing the title there, that the book had been retitled The Shifter, and told other people that until I came back to read further and learned better. I realize that technically it HAS been renamed, but, if possible, put both titles on the webpage so as not to confuse anyone else?

  3. Thanks!

Owlfish, the UK version is called The Pain Merchants still, but the US version is The Shifter. I'm working now on getting a UK version of the website up and running, and I hope to have it soon. Same with putting both covers up there so it's a bit clearer what's what :)
