Your book sounds great, like something I'd enjoy reading, so I'll have to check it out. You're also the first upcoming author I've come across who lives in GA! I'd love to come to a signing, but I don't think I'll be able to. :(ReplyDelete

Janice, you there? You haven't posted in awhile.ReplyDelete
I'm here! Sorry, for some reason I wasn't getting the emails that told me there were comments!ReplyDelete
I can't tell you much about book two yet, but I will say that Nya does some traveling, has to work with folks she'd never thought she'd work with, and finds out a few major secrets.
Title and cover will be posted soon, promise! We're down to the final tweaks on the cover and I want to unveil the whole thing at once.
I haven't read Septimus Heap yet, but I hear good things, so I'll have to add that to my list.
Oh okay! Thanks for letting me know about the cover and title! Like I said I do think you will like Septimus Heap when you gat around to it!ReplyDelete
Read your wonderful book on Wednesday and on Saturday I recommended it to the students in my Writing for Children class at University of San Diego who write fantasy. Are you an SCBWI member? Do you ever attend national? And why is the title of your book different in England?ReplyDelete
Thanks so much :) I am a SCBWI member, though I haven't been able to attend any conferences so far.I keep having conflicts with other events, (like this coming weekend.) Just bad timing. I hope to get to one before long though.ReplyDelete
The UK title is actually the original title for the book. It was changed for the US version because the sales team and the booksellers felt "pain" was going to turn folks off. My editor did a guest blog on this topic for my agent a while back. Here's the link if you're curious.
I'm sort of stumped on what to read next. What would you suggest?
I've been posting what I've been reading, so there are lots of ideas if you check the "book challenge" label. "The Compound" was fantastic. The Last Apprentice series is terrific. Some of my favorites (recent and old faves) are:ReplyDelete
The Gallagher Girls series
Percy Jackson series
Life As We Knew It
Skin Hunger & Sacred Scars
The Hunger Games & Catching Fire
13 Reasons Why
Thanks! I'll have to check some of those out!ReplyDelete
I was at Piney grove middle when you were signing the books. I bought the book before you came to the school. The book is awesome I love it it is one of the best books i've ever read. I can't wait for the second one to come out! Also thanks for signing my book.
A huge fan Brian Mesa
I know the second books coming out but are you thinking about making a third also, or are you ending it in this second book?
Artist99 I just finished the first draft of book three, so there will be a third book. It'll be out October 2011. That will be the final book :)
Okay, Well I'm sure it will be amazing, because you're such a brilliant writer! :)ReplyDelete
You are such a talented writer! I thought your book was amazing! I can't wait until Blue Fire comes out!ReplyDelete
I know you're probably really busy but do you think you'd be able to come to Montana?
I'm writing a story right now (or multiple stories really since I can't stop coming up with new ideas) and I love talking with published authors.
Thanks! - Anonymous
Any chance of you coming to Portland, Oregon? I just finished Blue Fire last night and am so depressed that I now have to wait until the next book comes out!ReplyDelete
LOVED BLUE FIRE! I've always loved your books but hats off to you for the beautiful cover art. I'm a big art buff (hence the name) and I love how the covers are drawn so realisticly.ReplyDelete
PS The hands add a nice dramatic touch. :)
Thanks so much!ReplyDelete
No plans to come to Montana or Oregon right now, but if I do, I'll let everyone know.
